Welcome to the Jiang Group
We use chemistry and materials science to innovate technological solutions to energy, sustainability, and climate-related challenges.

Our science is inspired by nature, driven by curiosity, and addresses the "who cares"
Science exists in everyday life: a little zap touching a metal doorknob is an example of electrostatics; electric motors operate based on the interaction between a magnetic field and an electric current; life is made of nitrogen- and carbon-containing building blocks, and half of world’s population depends on synthetic fertilizers.
Creativity emerges from being curious about the what-ifs and thinking with an interdisciplinary mind. Our team takes the unconventional approach of harnessing electrostatics energy to make essential chemicals on the ground and rescue the ozone hole in the sky. We innovate ionic motors, ionic communication and transmission methods that are complementary to today’s electronic technologies. We develop novel and low-carbon materials for a circular economy. Our goal is to integrate science with engineering to innovate technological solutions to energy-, sustainability-, and climate-related challenges. We value creativity, simplicity, and making an impact in science and beyond.

Running a research group is like running a start-up,
from fund raising, building a team, managing projects, to making a positive impact.
It's important to think about what we care about, what we'd like to spend a career working on,
and if we'd be happy working very hard towards solving that problem.
We are recruiting!
